About Pete
Toronto born Pete Temple started trumpet lessons at 9 yrs of age. Then learned guitar at age 14 and was self taught. His 1st harmonica was purchased at 16 yrs old after discovering British Blues, as an off shoot of the main Beatles, Stones, British invasion. The Yardbirds, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall, and Jeff Beck, led him to discover the originators of amplified harp in Chicago Blues. Little Walter, James Cotton, Carey Bell, Howlin Wolf & Paul Butterfield were major influences in these early years.
Pete Temple recorded 2 CD's with the Douglas Watson R&B Revue. In 2007 the band received the TBS New Talent Award for, 'Voodoo Healing', It was a big success, and launched the band. The CD, 'Broken Hearted Man' came out in 2014 and was nominated for a Maple Blues Award & received extensive airplay worldwide. Pete still cameos with the Waterstreet Blues Band. He has guest credits on over 6 other CD’s, among them, Pat Temple & High Lonesome Players, Dorianne Forester & Greg Todd On stage appearances with Jeff Healy, Pat Rush, Jack DeKeyzer, Mel Brown, Chuck Jackson, Cheryl Lescom to name a few.
Pete joined up with Roots Blues Artist, Mo' Kauffey. They started a duo in September 2014, called 'Kauffey/Temple'. They were instantly sought after for Roots & Blues festivals. Pete was a perfect fit, because of his diversity in Roots, Blues, Country, R&B, Jazz, Funk and Reggae. Unfortunately Mo' passed away just as they finished their first recording, 'Honey Be'. The CD has received critical acclaim with great reviews, and leaves a lasting legacy for Mo'.
Pete Temple & the Cornerstones launched their debut in 2016, as the after party entertainment at The Kitchener Blues Fest. It was standing room only at The KW Boathouse Event. Lead vocalist and harmonica ace, Pete Temple, leads the band, consisting of veteran guitarist Mike Macdonald, (Bayou Boys), (Macdonald/Rush), guitarist Chris Latta, (Soulstack, Douglas Watson), bassist Dr. Al Richardson, (Mel Brown & the Home Wreckers, Joel Johnson) and drummer Maciej Lukasiewicz, (Douglas Watson). Pete's versatility, and variety of harmonica styles, and now as lead vocalist, adds to the sound and originality of the band.
